Well I'd say the HITS chat party was fairly successful. Still, not a LOT of Tally Hall fans came to show their support, but I'm sure many were watching.
The first video has surfaced on YouTube and I'm sure a few others will follow, but for now take a look at the newly vested men of Tally Hall singing "Welcome To Tally Hall" on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson
After the show ended, Andrew came in to the chatroom to answer some question and accept lots of praise. Joe attempted to join in, too, but was too late.
Andrew let us know that a fairly elaborate bit was filmed with Craig for future use by the LLS, but he was tight-lipped on what exactly it is about. He said it will be bizarre and probably will air within the next month or so, but it's out of their hands now.
As far as the vests go, Mr. Horowitz says "we wanted to clean up the look. we've always wanted the colors to be our thing, not necessarily ties"
More discussion on the performance and chat party here!
Check back soon as further edits will be made to this post to include updated footage, info, etc.
EDIT 9/22/08 4:12pm EST:
The first "real" video of the TV footage has just surfaced. (Bout time! Sheesh...)
Just about 25 minutes ago, T.H.I.S. launched along with the re-designed tallyhall.com. (whew, thank goodness it wasn't that demo site we saw a few months ago!)
So this first episode had me cracking up quite a bit. A surprisingly low number of scenes were ever seen before, so that was good. Even the old ones, like the SALT bit are still great, though. Please join in the HITS forums and discuss your thoughts. We'd love to know them and I bet the band would, too, seeing as their forums are still down.
As for their new website, it's got the blog all ready to go, an absurdly long biography (which in it's simple concept of being rediculously long, is still very funny to me because it's just another thing that's never been done before, or at least, not to my knowledge), a media section, and of course the news and events. Gone are the "fun" sections of the site like the FAQ, Links, Did You Know?, and whatever else I may be forgetting in my haste. I'm guessing since each section has it's own "color" in the menu, they are trying to limit the number of sections to 5.
More to come soon, I'm sure. But keep an eye on the forums for discussion, analyzations, etc.
REMINDER: Tomorrow night Tally Hall appears on The Late, Late Show w/ Craig Ferguson. We're having a "chatroom party" here at HITS during that appearance. Just go to www.hiddeninthesand.com/chat2/ by about midnight tomorrow (Tuesday night).
While fans have been asking and speculating about a new album since early 2006, there's never been any public word spoken by the band on when they'll begin recording a new one.
Today, a brief interview by Metromix with Tally Hall was posted on YouTube and in it, Andrew states he's predicting they'll be in the studio by January 2009, which could likely mean a release date by the end of '09.
With this news, let's do the traditional cataloging of songs we know about that have potential to end up on the upcoming album.
Inside The Mind of Simon
Maybe In The Night
I'm Gonna Win
Misery Fell
Turn The Lights Off
Time Machine
At Least A Day
Matters (working title, never performed live)
And just for kicks, let's throw in:
(I Know) It's Just The Same
Now, some of these are already a few years old and I was told that they have been continually writing throughout this time. I was told to expect a matured sound and with all the hell they've gone through with touring for 3 years, suffering from delay after delay after delay, it wouldn't surprise me to hear a darker overtone on their next effort. But that's just my personal prediction at this time.

These videos are from the LiveDaily Sessions. LiveDaily appears to be an online music news 'zine of some sort. I guess some time this month Tally Hall went in and recorded these QUITE MAGNIFICENT versions of Good Day, Greener, and Be Born.
Hey Rob, I have to say your performance on Be Born was one of the absolute best I've ever seen you sing it.
Speaking of Rob, it was his birthday on Tuesday. Say "Happy Birthday" to Rob, everyone! Don't mind that it's late. He hasn't even realized it's August yet.
According to cmj.com, Tally Hall will be appearing once more on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson to assist in promoting the Tally Hall Internet Show (which will forever on be referred to as T.H.I.S.)
They also confirm the September 15th debut date for THIS, just as tallyhall.com is now doing, too.
Some may remember that during their first trip to The Late, Late Show's studios in August '06, they recorded Good Day (which was aired) and Spring & A Storm, which was intended for a later airing but never happened. No word yet on if the old taping will be the one to appear.
UPDATE 8/15/08: Tally Hall & Atlantic Records has issued a press release stating the Craig Ferguson appearance will occur on September 16th. Read the press release here, written entirely with Tally Hall wit.
