Blind Pig 5/15/09

So, the show was at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. Not the biggest venue in the world, so as you can imagine it was jam-packed, which is fine unless you’re pressed up against the couple who are about to jump each other. I also dislike being short.

Right, so Lightning Love and Malbec opened up for them and they were both real swell. I got to say an awkward hello to Rob before the show, but then he ran away to watch Lightning Love perform.

Then Tally Hall came on and I’ve never seen a more enthusiastic crowd. Everyone sang along to all the old songs and cheered for the new ones. I think I got Sacred Beast and a little of Hymn For A Scarecrow on video. After playing Turn the Lights Off they took a 23 second break (exactly 23, the audience counted) and then came back out to play the Ruler of Everything. At some point they started to play Banana Man, but was interrupted when a guy in a banana suit jumped on stage and started dancing, at which point Zubin stopped the show to interview him and we found out his name was Victor, he was from Sterling Heights, and Tally Hall is the greatest band ever. Rob then told him to crowd surf and that’s exactly what he did.

The last song of the night was Ross singing Everyday, which my friend got on video but I think it’s already on YouTube. Then it was all over and the crowd was incredibly disappointed when they counted to 23 and they didn’t come back out again.

After the show, I said hi to Ross and high-fived Zubin and my friend got really excited when she saw Lindsay Felton at the merch table because she recognized her from the show Caitlin’s Way. Oh, and Marvin Yogada also happened to be there, I didn’t get to see him, but the band pointed him out.

So all in all, I’d say a pretty good homecoming for our beloved band.

Yeah, that was a pretty awesome show. Victor was pretty cool, he stood in front of me for the first half of Tally Hall’s set.

When I went to the Lansing show, I hung out with the Malbec guys at their merch booth, but I also talked to Lindsay Felton. Apparently she lives in the same area as the guys, and wanted to go on tour with them. They said she could, but she would have to work the merch booth. Haha

Oh hey, I was standing pretty close to Victor. Perhaps we were standing right next to each other and didn’t even know it. I was one of the few annoying people dancing during Lightning Love, if that helps.

And I’m kind of jealous you got to hang out with Malbec and Lindsay, they seem pretty awesome.
