NeedleJuice Records Injects Us with a New Marvin’s & More

Tally Hall has signed with distributor and indie music savior, NeedleJuice Records, to re-press Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum once again, but this time it’ll be available on multiple custom vinyl variants, cassette tape, and of course on compact disc.

What you need to know:

  • This is an open pre-order and we’re also a long ways away from seeing the product ship. Pre-orders will be open until the manufacturer starts producing them
  • Orders will still be continued to be taken as long as NeedleJuice and Tally Hall’s contract is valid, so there’s no chance of selling out any time soon
  • The audio is from the 2008 Atlantic Records release
  • It probably won’t ship until June, 2021.
  • Shipping can be expensive, especially if you’re not in the contiguous 48 states. If you’re across the pond, wait until Monday when HHV.de will be able to start handling the shipping over there.

And while the version you get is the same as the Atlantic Records release — you’ll no longer have to pay hundreds of dollars. My understanding is, that’s primarily why this came together.

“We’ve been receiving more and more requests for vinyl over the years and grew tired of seeing people having to spend too much money on ebay in order to enjoy the album on their record players. The team at Needlejuice approached us with enthusiasm and have put together a few really nice reissue options that I’m confident will please all of our fans, whether long time listeners or recent discoverers.”

I’m told there might be another surprise or two to be found, as well.

But that’s not all!

NeedleJuice is also having an EP made called the Just a Friend EP, which of course features the band’s studio cover of Biz Markie’s Just a Friend on a 7″ clear vinyl with black splatter. It will also feature the bonus tracks Mucka Blucka and Dream! This also sells for $12.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post stated that the MMMM vinyl repress would also have Mucka Blucka & Dream. It will not. The CD and the cassette will, however. Also… Note that currently, HHV (the European distributor) currently does list the bonus tracks on the MMMM vinyl. This is a mistake that will be corrected soon. Essentially, the Just A Friend EP exists so that all those bonus tracks can be had on vinyl.

You might already be asking “What about Good & Evil, Coz?!” Well, all that’s being said is that they have intentions to give Good & Evil the same treatment but it all depends on how well MMMM does (which we know it will be very good) and everything goes smoothly. Still, work on Good & Evil will not happen until Marvin’s is all done and wrapped up in a bow.

So NOW you might be asking “What about Hawaii: Part II? What about Not A Trampoline? What about Joe Hawley Joe Hawley? What about edu’s Sketches or etudes?” The answer to all those is: There are currently no plans for any of them. That could change, though!
