Rob Cantor Meets Expectations With “The Rendezvous” (Possibly NSFW)

It’s been over 2 months since Rob Cantor went super-viral  with his music video for “Perfect”, better known as “29 Celebrity Impressions, 1 Original Song“.  With a rash of audio-only videos following it up, some  newly acquired, disenfranchised fans accused him of running out of ideas or just being a one-hit wonder.  Of course, those of us who have been following his work know he’s always one-upping himself.

Today, Rob has released the music video for “The Rendezvous” and I think you’ll agree, he’s outdone himself once again.  Check it out below, but be warned, though there’s no nudity, there are some fairly Not Safe For Work scenes that lie ahead…

I spoke with Rob yesterday and he told me that one of the objectives of this video was to make it look like a Wayans Brothers film, shot by David Fincher — and honestly, I could not come up with a better way to encapsulate this piece of work.

What do you think?  Did Rob hit the mark with this one?  Or did he go too far?  Personally, I love it.  The uncomfortable, oblivious absurdity of it – being wrapped up in such a beautifully shot & produced image – gives me the same chills I get when watching an episode of Louie.
