This song refers to a lot of lore around the fae courts, (fairies), the erlking name refers to the king of the fairies, known for stealing the souls of children. Specifically he only appears to someone who is about to die and only them. Which makes sense as to why he found the forest and she found the erlking. There’s a lot more here involving the fountain of infinite mirrors and how it all related back to murder, but if the legends of the fae are true, invoking the name of them many times here is sure to get me killed but it’s super interesting to look into and I highly recommended it. | |||

Murders is a song by Joe Hawley. It is the 5th track on the album Hawaii: Part II.
History
This song was originally conceptualized during Tally Hall's Good & Evil writing phase. It might have been played once or twice live during the band's residency at Union Hall in Brooklyn during the month of February 2009, but nowhere else. The demo version of the track is similar to the final version.
Recording

The "all for nothing at all" segment in this song is in reference to a song entitled All or Nothing at All, most famously performed by Frank Sinatra.
This song refers to a lot of lore around the fae courts, (fairies), the erlking name refers to the king of the fairies, known for stealing the souls of children. Specifically he only appears to someone who is about to die and only them. Which makes sense as to why he found the forest and she found the erlking. There’s a lot more here involving the fountain of infinite mirrors and how it all related back to murder, but if the legends of the fae are true, invoking the name of them many times here is sure to get me killed but it’s super interesting to look into and I highly recommended it.
