Trivia
* The song was likely originally titled "Out in the Brushlight" as heard in the demo that appears on Admittedly Incomplete Demos
* Andrew Horowitz sings in this song along side Rob Cantor using a vocoder much like in Taken for a Ride, it is much easier to hear in live recordings.
* This is the only other Tally Hall song Andrew Horowitz didn't write but sings in other than The Kazoo Song.

Out in the Twilight is a song written by Rob Cantor for Tally Hall's second album, Good & Evil.

History

Out in the Twilight was one of many songs written in the years since Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum's release, likely written sometime between 2008 and 2009. The demo included very different lyrics, including a completely different outro. During the rehearsal sessions for Good & Evil in October, the lyrics and song structure were likely rewritten and then recorded the following month.

It's live debut was at Great Scott in Allston, MA on March 3rd 2010, the first show of their tour with Jukebox The Ghost and Skybox. Casey Shea filled in for Joe during this tour.

Trivia

Lyrics

Stone & Glass
Everything balancing
Every saint has a sin
Won't it last?
Resident present
I don't even want to ask

All the light is low
Where the time will go
All I know is that I can see anything
Out in the twilight

All is past
Everything interesting
Is it new?
Is it me?
Stone & Glass
Give me a reason it
Ought to be easy to last

All the light is low
Where the time will go
All I know is that I can see anything
Out in the twilight

& in between
Eternally
An evenfall is all that will
Appear to be

Our story's old
& either end untold
The in-between goes on

Collect yourself & move into the street (out in the twilight)
The rest of our entire life is free (out in the twilight)

Demo Lyrics

Stone & Glass
Everything balancing
Every saint has a sin
Won't it last?
Resident present
I don't even want to ask

Oh, the open road
Time & I don't know
Time is off, it's anything happening
Out in the brush light

Time is past
Everything interesting
Is it new?
Is it me?
Stone in glass
Give me a reason it
Ought to be easy to last

Oh, the open road
Time & I don't know
Time is off, it's anything happening
Out in the brushlight

Oh the open sea (See the stone in the sun)
Light is falling (Leave a note bottled up)
For me to find
I can see anything
Out in the brushlight

Give me a reason to write
Give me a reason to write
